Mister Scratch is NOT A GOOD DUDE. As such, for everyone's comfort and safety, please answer these questions so I know the lines for your character! And OF COURSE, if things change one way or the other, I am ALWAYS open to discussion for any thread or plotting! DM me here, on Discord, or on Plurk if you wanna talk.

His powers from his application:

Mundane Skills: Well, mundane in that they're non-powered - Scratch is a killer, plain and simple. And he's good at it. He's vicious, quick, strong, and very good with melee weapons. Not much for guns though.

Beyond his capacity for violence, he's mostly just good at being charming when he wants to be. He's every tabloid story of a famous writer with a bad reputation made flesh, so he's got kind of a sleazy charm thing going for him. He's a smooth talker with a pretty face and he knows it.

Herald of Darkness - Mister Scratch is an avatar for a massive, ageless Darkness entity. He has been created specifically to take the place of Alan Wake in the real world while the writer is imprisoned, but even his true name is unpronounceable.

Being what he is, even beyond his evil demeanor, he has an aura of Darkness around him. Some people find it magnetic and attractive, generally people who are attracted to vice or people who also have a dark streak themselves. Most people, however, will find that he has an aura that makes their skin crawl.

Shadow Manipulation - Being a being of Darkness means he can control it. He can summon shadow, move it around, and make it cling to places. He can also blow light bulbs, short fuse boxes, et cetera in order to make a place darker.

He can also use the shadows to teleport short distances, but only to other places that are dark already.

Poltergeists - He can imbue objects with Darkness to make them hostile - enough light can burn away the effect, but until it does, these objects will hurl themselves at people, fly around, even run themselves if they are machinery.

Possession - This one is the biggie. It's not classic possession, per se, but more of a darkening of a person's essence. A mild case causes a person to be almost euphoric, a caricature of the darkest parts of themselves. They'll avoid light, and they'll be dazed, not quite in control, and more inclined to obey what Mister Scratch asks.

If left too long in the darkness or if they let themselves relinquish too much control, they can become Taken. They turn violent, wreathed in darkness, and shrieking a handful of random things they might normally say like an action figure with a limited prerecorded voice bank. Light will actively hurt them, and being taken out completely is the only way to dispel the darkness within them. (It will not remain after resurrection.)

Absolutely, but he'd only notice it in person and his spidey sense at this point in his life is not super reliable. so it'll probably only go off 60% of the time and he might not even know why the first few times.

You know I trust you a thousand percent and I am SO HERE for going there but definitely not right off the bat with the murder. Gotta build up to any killing. (And obviously we’ll be talking about it beforehand. XD) Also okay with the hurting. Like I said. Sooner or later he’s going to fucking shank her and I’m okay with that.

How would your character react to his aura of evil? Oh, she feels it and can practically TASTE the darkness. It’s not great. Definitely creeps her out even if she’s not afraid of him. Senses it deeply.

Can Mister Scratch sense darkness in your character? If so, what kind of darkness would he find? (eg hatred, violence, lust, vice) Short answer is YES. Longer answer is OH GOD this is… complicated, maybe? There’s definitely some darkness in her. Anger and fury especially. Her sin in City of Sin was Wrath for a reason. But it’s not out of control…. Most of the time. XD Again, it was wrath for a reason. The Wrath of a Seer. She’s seen awful, horrible things in multiple worlds, and has tried to stop the things she’s seen from coming true and failed. But she still has hope. Believes in the good of things and people. She definitely has no problem throwing hands even if she does try words and charm first. And she’s no stranger to lust? I mean, she’s got a healthy libido but IDK that that counts as darkness?

Can he manipulate darkness to enter your character's home? IDK if any of the runes/wards/things that Angel taught her would stop him but she is going to be putting alllll of that shit up in her home. But I wouldn’t mind him like, figuring out a way to pull it off. Sexy cat and mouse XD

Can he Possess your character with Darkness? If yes, how far do you want it to go? This IDK about. It’s tempting, but IDK. I definitely would want her to be harder for him to possess thanks to the mental acuity given to her as part of her gift of sight. But I don’t know that I would be opposed to it happening? Or that I want it to happen? It would depend, I think? We can chat and figure it out. <3

Does your character have any light powers? FIREWORKS POWERS GOOOOO. Zoey has gained some Jubilee-style powers so she can do ALL SORTS OF THINGS now. I tossed all her shit up in a game-specific post here. (With the potential for more being added if the mods let me let her have the powers I forgot on her app.)

Does your character have any shadow powers? Probably not, although given the above it’s possible.

Anything else you want to add? I SUPER want to play around with her seer powers interacting/reacting with his darkness. Maybe figure out something different/fun to do with it. Since he can probe people with Darkness and sense shit. Especially since she has some touch telepathy going on, too.

As for her powers reacting to the Darkness, we just gotta figure out what that would look like! But I'm super down as you know.

Can Mister Scratch hurt or kill your character? How far can he go? Hurt is fine. Kill I'd rather not, unless we get a scene that looks like it'd be best there. Then I might consider it, but I'd want to talk it through first.

How would your character react to his aura of evil? Megumi is guilty of being drawn to a guy in his own canon who has an immense dark and evil aura, so I think he'd find the aura more comforting than anything. He's not one to give in to vices, but he's still a teenager - with the right influence, he could be convinced.

Can Mister Scratch sense darkness in your character? If so, what kind of darkness would he find? (eg hatred, violence, lust, vice) Definitely violence and definitely some hatred and anger in there. Megumi does very well at hiding these things but it seems like Mister Scratch would probably be able to sense it easily?

Can he manipulate darkness to enter your character's home? Sure. After one time, Megumi would probably put up a curtain to prevent him in the future (a barrier made of cursed energy, which people without powers cannot see or enter. It can be keyed to keep out specific people, even if they have powers.), but he's still young and so he doesn't have much experience with curtains that have specifics. It probably wouldn't actually do the job.

Can he create poltergeists to attack your character? Sure.

Can he Possess your character with Darkness? If yes, how far do you want it to go? I think it'd be fun. I wonder if Megumi would be more susceptible to it, considering he controls shadows? I don't want it to go too far but a little bit I think is just right.

Anything else you want to add? Megumi generally finds a reason why he's doing something and justifies the negative things with positive facts every time. Like he used to beat up bullies at school, and convinced himself it was fine because they were "learning a lesson". So if he was influenced in some way, he'd just justify it too.

I figure by this time with all the worlds she's been through Zoey has accumulated other protective wards and things that she tosses up on the reg when she's in a new place. And we KNOW it'd frustrate him all to hell to not be able to get inside her place for a long while.

Can Mister Scratch hurt or kill your character? How far can he go? Certainly! I, obviously, would love it plotted out before hand. But, to whatever extent the context calls for.

How would your character react to his aura of evil?
I've been wondering this myself. I feel that Jesse would definitely get a sense of wrongness, especially as she's encountered the Dark Presence (to some extent). So, it's probably a mixture of her recognizing the Presence and Polaris going "woahhhh bro no."

Most certainly. If anything it is probably her extreme distrust for people (she's gotten better about it) and her deep paranoia. Feel free to pull from any of those therapy tapes she had!

With plotting and the right context, sure. That could be fun. How would the Darkness react to the Polaris Resonance, I wonder... we know what happens with the Hiss...

If you squint and want to relate the Polaris Resonance being a positive frequency to the Hiss's distorted resonance?? Maybe??? Otherwise she can just levitate big lights at the Darkness. Hella, here comes the stadium lights to be thrown at you.

Negatory (unless you want to count Seize as a morally shadow one).
